Sotheby’s Institute of Art began its partnership with Claremont Graduate University in 2013, offering a three-semester MA in Art Business. In 2015, the Institute took over the MA in Arts Management, which had been operating at CGU for just over a decade. Building upon the Institute’s now more than 50 years of educating art market professionals, the Los Angeles partnership brings a new dimension to the study of both the visual and performing arts, their markets, and the management of the firms, organizations, agencies and institutions charged with their flourishing.
Internationally celebrated as a global hub for media, music, and entertainment, LA has emerged as an important center of contemporary visual and performing art as well. There is increasing demand in the region for astute, highly-trained and versatile creatives who are able to meet the challenges of an increasingly global and digital economy that is reshaping the way the arts are created, shared, promoted and consumed.
