The academic majors at WPU represent areas that connect to growing professional fields and demands. They incorporate pre-professional and liberal arts components. They include flexible pairings and specialized concentrations within each major.
New Courses: Our new core curriculum emphasizes basic knowledge needed beyond graduation. Mandatory courses in personal financial management, media literacy and four years of writing courses within the English department.
Professional Development / Careers: A series of three classes focusing on career and professional development is a requirement. Through the Portfolio Seminars Series, you’ll learn how to construct a résumé, build a portfolio, interview for a job or apply for graduate school.
Internships: An academic internship related to your major is required, with the goal of combining educational theory with job experience. Research Triangle Park, one of the nation’s most innovative business and technical communities nearby, provides internship opportunities in finance, pharmaceuticals and research, sports, law and politics. Sixty percent of Peace graduates report their college internships result in job offers.
Advising: Your skilled adviser for all four years will help you to explore careers, assist with decision-making and provide personal attention to all areas of college life, both academic and social.
