Florida Southern College

Florida Southern College is one of the nation's best private colleges and an award-winning, national leader in engaged learning, having earned the prestigious William M. Burke Presidential Award for Excellence in Experiential Education by the National Society of Experiential Education. With an 18:1 student-to-faculty ratio, FSC is committed to providing students personalized, hands-on learning both in and out of the classroom. FSC guarantees graduation in 4 years, an internship, and a study abroad experience for each student. FSC provides numerous opportunities for service-learning, performance, and collaborative research with faculty.

Since 2010, all entering students have been eligible to participate in Junior Journey, an innovative program in which students work with faculty to create a domestic or international travel experience that supports their academic goals. Students receive course credit and gain worldly perspective by studying in places such as Costa Rica, China, Turkey, South Africa, England, France, Italy, and Spain.

As part of Florida Southern's engaged-learning model, business students establish strategic planning and operational reports for both corporate and nonprofit organizations; nursing students deliver babies in Tanzania; chemistry students collaborate with faculty to become published in The Journal of Physical Chemistry; political science students live and study in Washington, DC.; and fine arts students perform alongside members of the famed Imperial Symphony Orchestra.

FSC offers more than 70 dynamic majors including business, psychology, biological sciences, chemistry, nursing, fine arts, and communication, as well as high-quality, pre-professional programs, such as pre-medicine, pre-veterinarian, and pre-law. Students also have the opportunity to pursue self-designed majors. The college offers distinctive master's programs in business, nursing, and education.

Our involved students enjoy outstanding student life programming, including championship NCAA Division II events in 20 sports (30 national championships) and four club sports (esports, equestrian, water skiing, and ice hockey); 26 +intramural sports; more than 100 clubs and organizations; a comprehensive National Greek system; and an elaborate and diverse selection of weekend activities, including free kayaking, canoeing, and paddle-boating on scenic Lake Hollingsworth.

FSC is known for its campus beauty that was designed by the famous architect, Frank Lloyd Wright, which boasts lush landscaping throughout and an impressive collection of inviting gardens, including a world-class rose garden, as well as citrus trees, shaded walkways, and a meditation garden with a panoramic view of Lake Hollingsworth. A residential college with 94% of students living on campus, the setting features lavish gardens, lakeside residence halls, and state-of-the-art academic facilities, including the Becker Business, Blanton Nursing, and Christoverson Humanities Buildings, the Wynee Warden Dance Studio, Rinker Technology Center, Wellness Center, and multiple food location options.

FSC is within an hour's drive of Tampa and Orlando, providing easy access to some of the nation's most pristine beaches, spectacular amusement parks, premium entertainment and shopping, and leading professional sports venues. With state-of-the-art technology centers; modern residence halls featuring stunning views of Lake Hollingsworth and top-tier amenities; a humanities building that includes a language lab, film studies center, and theater; a communications building with a full media studio; simulated patient labs in a cutting-edge nursing building; a cybercafe that serves Starbucks products; renovated dining halls; and Frank Lloyd Wright designs, students enjoy an environment that encourages reflection, inspires imagination, rewards curiosity, and creates energy.
