Pathway for the International Student
Adjusting to college life in the U.S. can be challenging. To make your transition as easy and productive as possible, the Undergraduate Accelerator at American University - International Accelerator is a one-year program that sets you up for success with:
Academic, English-language, and cultural support.
College credit towards your AU degree.
Access to exclusive courses and cultural events.
The Extended Accelerator Program is a four-term program during which students earn a minimum of 24 credit hours transferable to an undergraduate degree. The Academic and Integrated Accelerator Program are three-term programs during which students earn a minimum of 24 credit hours transferable to an undergraduate degree.
International Accelerator Program
The IAP is comprised of three distinct program tracks: The Extended Accelerator, the Academic Accelerator, and the Integrated Accelerator. Students are placed in a program track based on English language proficiency level. IAP helps to ease the transition for international students to American University - International Accelerator by combining credit-bearing academic courses from the first year of the degree with additional support and experiences.
IAP helps students strengthen academic reading, writing, and oral communication skills while fully immersing them in the U.S. academic culture. In addition to the IAP academic coursework, students receive support from a comprehensive advising program that includes individualized support plans and a first-year experience course taught by program advisors.
Students interested in the American University - International Accelerator Program must have scores of 5.5+ on the IELTS, and 74+ on the TOEFL.
