Jackie Li from Green River College
Jackie was born in New York City and grew up in New Jersey. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in East Asian Studies at Harvard University and went on to complete a Master’s in Educational Leadership at the University of Pennsylvania. During her college years, she had the opportunity to study and work abroad in Japan, Taiwan, and China, and she strongly believes in the value of international exchange. Before coming to Washington, Jackie worked in Taiwan at a start-up test prep and college counseling academy, helping Taiwanese students who wanted to attend university in the US. At Green River College, Jackie is the Associate Director of International Student Advising, and she works with students on immigration, academic, and cultural matters. Jackie currently lives in Bellevue, WA with her spouse and her cat. Founded in 1965, Green River College is located in a suburb of Seattle, WA. It serves approximately 10,000 students in both vocational and university transfer programs. As of Fall 2016, Green River hosts 1,749 international students from more than 60 countries. It ranks 10th in the US among the almost 1200 community colleges in international student enrollment. Most international students come to Green River for our nationally recognized 2+2 transfer program to top US universities. Students are able to complete the required coursework to transfer to almost any major, and some of our most popular majors are business, engineering, computer science, and aviation. We also offer a High School Completion program and an Intensive English Program (IEP).
