2012 Video Travel ContestThe 2012 Travel Video Contest is officially launched! This year's contest offers a Grand Prize of $4,000 and, judging from the interest we've had even before launch, will drive a lot more buzz than ever before. With an elite judges panel, hundreds of entries expected again, and worldwide exposure, this year's contest will be exciting and will certainly produce some amazing videos.

The format is simple: in 5 minutes or less, tell us about your planned study abroad. You can be as imaginative and creative as you want to be in your video, but make sure you check out all of the rules and guidelines for your video and its submission. You might even want to take a look at previous years' winners and entrants, to see how good you have to be to win.

The deadline is October 31st, and for full information and rules please see our contest website.

International Student Adjustments - View from a Mental Health Director

As director of a mental health center and former Purdue graduate student, Neelu Chawla knows well the challenge for international students to adjust to life at Purdue. . . Social isolation and loneliness are some of the hardest challenges international students face, Chawla said. “They’re leaving their friends, their social networks, their cultures and having to adapt to a whole new way of being in the world,” Chawla said. “They’re creating a new identity, if you will.

This month we have a posting from our forum from a Canadian student looking for some advice:

Hi, my name is Gabrielle and I am new to this forum... I am a Canadian citizen, who speaks french and I am actually studying business administration in Quebec, Canada. I am looking forward to a student exchange in the USA with NSE in september 2013. I am really confused because I don't know in wich city I am willing to go. I really love the beach, warm weather and cities with a lot of accomodations. Can anyone suggest me cities to live at and to study Business administration?

If you would like to add a response, or help this international student, please visit our forums and post a response.

> Searching for Colleges in the USA

We are often asked by international students, what is the best way to search for colleges in the USA - do you have a guide for students? Of course our school search is the best tool available, with both featured schools and a full listing of all schools in the USA that admit international students - so that is a great place to start for any student. But the tool can seem a little confusing - what to search for, how to work the tool, etc.. are some of the more common questions we receive.

So to help, we have written an excellent blog post to walk students through the process, titled "How to search for colleges in the USA". It will help get you started towards finding the right school, and start your international journey off in the right direction.
