travel video contestThe 2010 Travel Video Contest is in full swing with the first entries in the door!

Each year, the contest gets bigger and better, with more entries and more exposure, and this year will be no exception. The Grand Prize has been increased again to $4,000, and the winner also gets their own blog on InternationalStudent.com.

To enter, create a short movie (no longer than 5 minutes in length) telling us why you want to study or travel abroad. If you are already studying abroad, the movie can be about any trip you would like to take. You can get some ideas from our previous winners - but the more original and unique your video is, the more chance you have to win the $4,000 Grand Prize!

Visit our contest page for all the rules, and start planning your videos - deadline is 29 October 2010!

What Motivates International Students?

(from Insider Higher Ed)

Overseas students head to Britain for quality, to the United States for career improvement and to Germany for low tuition, according to a new study. The British Council’s Student Decision Making Survey includes information gathered from around 115,000 students, from 200 countries, who hope to study abroad. The poll has been conducted over the past three and a half years.

The introduction to the report notes that the market for overseas students is becoming "more sophisticated," with domestic higher education investment in many countries making overseas study less attractive, and courses taught in English increasingly being offered in non-English-speaking countries.

> From the Mailbag

This month we have a post from our study in Australia forum, where a member is asking for some guidance on what schools are best:

Hey i'm new here. I'm applying a few universities to do my degree in communications (pr, journalism...) I applied to RMIT, Griffith, and Swinburne.

Some gave good comments and some bad on the universities. So i'm kinda unsure now.
Plus some recommended Victoria Uni and USQ.\

Any advice? Much appreciated =)

>International Student Loans

We have two resources for loans for international students, studying at approved schools in the US. First, of course there is InternationalStudentLoan.com, the primary destination for international education loans:

https://www.internationalstudentloan.com

You can also check the international student loan resource on InternationalStudent.com, which offers a variety of lenders and a very large school list:

With both of these programs, there is no application deadline, so fall funding is still available.
