Morocco, a modern Muslim country with its relatively lax censorship system, will permit people to gain a new perspective by allowing them to not only learn about the country through a class but by actually being there. It would be an amazing opportunity to stay with and learn from the men and women of Morocco to work towards a common goal: to promote gender equality and women empowerment. It will be fulfilling to see men, women, and my fellow John Jay College students learn about this subject and to see what is going on in another country besides our own. “The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page,” says St. Augustine and if our lives are also books, we write and create chapters with the experiences we acquire and I know that the study abroad program to Morocco will make contributions not only to my education but also my personal life.
